Valley Heartland Community Futures Development Corporation (Valley Heartland) provides entrepreneurs and communities in Lanark County and North Leeds with access to funding, training and mentorship to help them nurture the most innovative, sustainable businesses and communities imaginable.  As a community-based, non-profit organization funded by FedDev, we invest in job creation, business and community innovation.

We are currently recruiting for a Business Development and Lending Officer. This is a full-time position.

Reporting to the General Manager, this position is responsible for the growth of business lending opportunities through lead generation and qualification of loan applications.

Specific duties will include:

  • Assist small business operators to secure business loans
  • Provide advisory services and counselling to business owners and entrepreneurs ( i.e., cash flow, business plan, feasibility, succession planning, etc.)
  • Administration of commercial loans and ongoing management of the existing portfolio.
  • Prepare, maintain and coordinate all financial records of the loan portfolio, including in-house financial reports, budget reports, bank reconciliation, repayment reconciliations, and any other financial reporting as required.
  • Market and promote Valley Heartland services throughout Lanark County and North Leeds
  • Other administrative functions as assigned by the General Manager
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Commercial lending experience
  • Strong financial statement analysis capability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A valid driver's licence and vehicle for required outreach
  • The ability to work with modern software and cloud tools
  • Working knowledge of software programs including Word, SAGE, Excel, Outlook and the ability to learn loan management software
  • The ability and willingness to learn new tools that help you get the job done efficiently and effectively
  • The ability to be great with people, and communicate well by email, phone and in-person
  • Great attention to detail and be organized by default; you don’t let things slip through the cracks
  • A feeling of being comfortable in a tech-centric environment
