Nestled in the heart of the Ottawa Valley, the Township of Lanark Highlands covers over 1,000 square kilometres, making it the largest municipality in Lanark County. Bordered to the north by Renfrew County and to the west by Frontenac County, Lanark Highlands is situated approximately 20 minutes north of Perth.
The population of Lanark Highlands is 5,128. Lanark Highlands is home to several dozen lakes and rivers. Lanark Highlands also offers picturesque vistas of rolling hills and Canadian Shield topography, combining with the abundant water bodies to form prime cottage country.
The Township of Lanark Highlands is seeking an experienced municipal manager to fill the position of Superintendent of Public Works. This position will involve managing all road-related functions, waste management operations and building maintenance.

The Township is seeking a motivated and results oriented individual to join our team with solid knowledge of municipal legislation and practices, excellent communication/interpersonal skills and working knowledge of MS Office suite software. The ideal candidate will have acquired related postsecondary education and be a Certified Engineering Technician or Technologist and have a minimum of three (3) years suitable management experience in a municipal setting would be considered an asset.
Candidates with a Certified Road Supervisor designation, combined with a demonstrated commitment to continuing education in public works and asset management, together with relevant experience will also be considered. The candidate will also have specific experience in road maintenance, construction and design (preferably in a rural environment), working knowledge and experience with G.P.S. units for current PSAB requirements, producing tender documents, budgeting, policy development and will exhibit excellent planning and communication skills.
Waste Management operations, facilities, household hazardous waste and M.O.E. Regulations related knowledge is also part of this role.
