Gananoque is a lovely, small town of 5,500 residents located among the 1000 Islands along the shores of the beautiful St. Lawrence River. The Town of Gananoque is seeking a Chief Operator/ORO to work in the Town’s Public Works Utilities Division. Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, the successful candidate will coordinate operations and maintenance requirements of the Town’s water and sewage treatment, water distribution, sewage collection, and all pumping stations.
The successful candidate will possess highly proficient technical and organizational skills in order to lead the day-to-day work for the water/wastewater operations staff ensuring the systems are in good condition and meet all regulatory requirements, certificates of approval, and other related legislation. This position will be responsible for all statutory duties and responsibilities of the Overall Responsible Operator. The incumbent must possess Class II water treatment, water distribution, wastewater collection and Class I wastewater treatment. Related experience coordinating and overseeing jobs/tasks is an asset.
This position is a member of the CUPE Local 1701. Wages and benefits are in accordance with the current Collective Agreement; the 2018 hourly rate is $32.18 per hour.
