Envirosearch Limited is an environmental engineering consulting firm created in 1978 to specialize in the water and wastewater industry. In 2001 Envirosearch Operations Inc. was formed to specifically specialize in providing professional and operational services to industrial, commercial, institutional and private-sector owners of water and wastewater treatment facilities in the Province of Ontario.

We are currently recruiting for a Water-Wastewater Operator for our Brockville location.

The Water-Wastewater Operator is responsible for maintaining the water-wastewater treatment plants, collection and distribution systems in order to ensure the availability of a clean community water supply and discharge of effluent that meets applicable legislative requirements. Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Sampling water and wastewater as well as performing the following tests: BOD, chlorine residual, dissolved oxygen, pH, solids testing, and temperature
  • Performing common dosing calculations, setting dosing rates, and monitoring to ensure the desired dosing rate is achieved
  • Performing treatment processes including screening, grinding, grit removal, aeration, clarification, disinfection, and lagoon systems
  • Inspecting, servicing and repairing components of the treatment plants, including water intakes, pipes, water storage vessels, chemical treatment equipment, control systems, wastewater lift stations, circulation pumps, boilers, heat exchangers and valves
  • Performing tasks as outlined in the preventative maintenance program
  • Demonstrating advanced understanding of safety including consistent identification of hazards, and selection of personal protective equipment
  • Preparing activity and work order reports
  • Recommending the purchase of goods and equipment
  • Communicating changes in site conditions that would introduce new hazards or increased risk at a site
  • Completing daily workplace inspections prior to the commencement of work to identify hazardous conditions
  • Responding to emergency calls and be available during duty periods
  • Contributing towards achieving desired quality control and quality assurance goals
  • Reviewing analytical results and interpreting relative to system performance
  • Performing other duties as required
Qualifications
  • Minimum of all four Operator-In-Training (OIT) certificates
  • 2 - 5 years of experience is preferred
  • Grade 12 or GED is required, post-secondary education is considered an asset
  • Valid G driver’s licence and own reliable vehicle
  • Must have the ability to manage 25kg chemical totes
  • First Aid certificate is considered an asset
  • Must be able to work independently with little supervision and be able to work quickly with extremely high accuracy
  • High level of skill with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and other computer software
  • The ability to efficiently multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good sense of observation to be able to detect an anomaly or problem of equipment or operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with active listening
  • Confidence in asking questions and clarification on tasks assigned
  • A desire to learn and taking initiative to always improve
