The Cornwall Community Hospital is recruiting for a Manager, Pharmacy Services.

The Manager, Pharmacy Services is responsible for leading the pharmacy team for the provision of high-quality service in pharmacy and related services. The Manager, Pharmacy Services will develop and maintain a strong qualified team that responds to the needs of patients and various hospital departments.

Summary of Duties:

  • Responsible for planning, organizing and overseeing the overall operation of the pharmacy department, including drug procurement, clinical services and medication reconciliation
  • Develop policies, procedures and processes that are in accordance with best practice, that meet regulatory requirements of OCP (Ontario College of pharmacists) standards, Accreditation Canada and other regulatory bodies
  • Perform ongoing evaluations of the goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the department to ensure they are embedded in the operation of the department
  • Ensure pharmacy staff are compliant with patient safety practices and all current policies and procedures at the hospital
  • Assess the team’s performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Monitor, review and analyse the department activity, workload, revenue and expenses
  • Develop short and long-term goals and objectives for the department in alignment with the strategic direction of the hospital which are based on the hospital’s mission, vision and values
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and disciplines to achieve best patient outcomes and hospital values
  • Bachelor of Science in pharmacy and experience in a hospital pharmacy setting in a leadership role
  • Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
  • Human resources management and change management skills
  • Demonstrated success in budgeting, planning and workplace organization
  • Experience with pharmacy information systems, automated drug distribution models, And MedRec.
  • Experience with CPOE, smart pump technology, closed-loop medication administration, CPOE (computer prescriber order entry) is an asset
  • Effective inter-professional communication and collaboration with other disciplines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Understanding of lean principles and practices
