CNL's Chalk River Laboratories (CRL) is located 190 km northwest of Canada's national capital, Ottawa. The CNL site comprises 3,700 hectares (9,100 acres) along the Ottawa River. The site contains several licence-listed nuclear facilities, including the National Research Universal (NRU) reactor and many other unique facilities and laboratories. The site has unique capabilities in expertise and specialized facilities that support innovation in safety, security, health, environmental and clean energy technologies.

We are currently recruiting for a Manager, Business Support and Analysis.

The main role of the Manager, Business Support and Analysis is to provide the management and oversight of the financial support to the business lines across the organization.This position is responsible for the financial integrity and oversight of the D&WM, S&T and Capital missions.  The responsibilities include provision of strategic analysis, business advise, operational reporting and overall financial management of the missions.

Duties:

  • Responsible for leading and coaching a team of financial professionals and staff.
  • Provides ongoing financial review, reporting, business decision support, business advice, and financial modelling.
  • Advisor to executive, senior and line management on performance management, provides support for revenue/market growth strategies, assists with APWB and longer term planning.
  • Leads specific initiatives, reviews projects, and assists with financial updates of the decommissioning liability estimate.
  • Assist in the provision of financial oversight with regards to procurement of goods and services
  • Lead and/or oversee improvement initiatives in the provision of financial support to the organization.
  • Drive constant improvement in financial support across the organization.
  • Consolidate, analyze, and communicate financial performance to senior management.
  • Responsible for financial forecasts and projections to ensure adequate funds management.
  • Liaise and maintain working relationships with business line management and external stakeholders.
  • Assist the central Program Office in the production of the Annual Program of Work and Budget (APWB).
Qualifications
  • University bachelors in commerce, business administration, finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • An accounting designation with a minimum of five years of experience is preferred
  • Above average communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances and prioritize in order to meet tight deadlines
  • Experience in financial systems and processes
  • Complete familiarity with Microsoft office products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) is a requirement
  • Exposure to Oracle financial system reporting functionality is preferred.
  • Ability to guide, mentor and develop staff
  • Sound knowledge of financial analysis techniques, business analysis, and planning methodology is essential
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with an ability to think strategically and independently
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, investigate variances and provide assessment of future impacts
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities embraced by excellent organization and priority setting skills
  • Must demonstrate leadership, technical expertise and a proven track record
